In 2008 Meaghan Edelstein began her blogging career, writing about her personal experience with cancer. Through her blog and self branding Edelstein gained national attention. Edelstein went on to found Spirit Jump, a grassroots nonprofit organization with a mission to provide hope and comfort to the many men, women and children battling cancer.
Through her blog and nonprofit organization Edelstein has become heavily involved in Social Media. Edelstein has been producing national social and mobile media conferences for Global Strategic Management Institute (GSMI) since 2009 and is the Senior Editor for Social Axcess a new media blog powered by GSMI. In July, 2009 more than 46,000 people visited the Great Nonprofits Web site, and 1864 reviews were posted about more than 120 cancer-fighting organizations. The 2009 Cancer Fighter Award for the Southern Region went to Spirit Jump. Spirit Jump won by receiving the most positive reviews out of all the Southern Cancer Charities including American Cancer Society and Fran Dresscher's Cancer Schmancer Foundation.
